Those manuscripts written in Khmer script and Pâli or Khmer Language
existed has been known for a long time. Some of them have been collected by European Libraries. Eureopean Union has been allerted by the state of these manuscripts, specially those kept in Cambodian Monasteries, their
conservation is a real urgency.
Therefore it seems important to convene both European and Cambodian specialists to discuss the two following themas:
- Inventory of Khmer manuscripts, in Khmer and Pali languages, in the world.
- Importance of preserving these manuscripts by digitisation and creation of an open library to permit a much larger
diffusion than could be offered by a library or an individual.
